Book Review of ‘Ethical n Spiritual Values in Indian Scriptures’This maiden authorship/contribution by Shri Ved Bhatia in his niche area of ethical values is marvelous in many ways. Firstly, it is unique in successfully culling out many gems of ethical values from a wide spectra of eight Indian Scriptures: Vedas, Manusamriti, Bhagvad-gita, Vidura Niti, Chanakya Niti Sastra, Sankara’s Crest Jewel of Wisdom(Viveka Choodamani), Thirukkural, and Ethical values from Isha Vasya Upanishad.
Secondly, it has brought about relevance of many of these values for the management scenario, as well. For example, In Chapter 3 of this monumental book twenty Human Values from Bhagvad Gita have been discussed in detail, imbibing which the modern day Manager becomes more efficient and effective. A Manager with the quality of ‘Absence of self-worship-fullness’ and egotism will be shorn of complexities with lesser conflict situations, commanding respect in his/her own right, getting full cooperation towards achievement of the organizational goals.
This book is helpful for personal growth and its treasure trove of ethical values can be applied in corporate world to arrest the ongoing trend of degradation of ethical values. Shall highly recommend this book on Ethical values to be kept as a Reference Manual by the Sr. Executives and Managers.
